High  Court Orders Kenya Power and Lighting to stop billing consumers with inflated backdated bills in an attempt to recover Sh10.1b.

City Lawyer Apollo Mboya and Consumer Society of Kenya had moved to court  to stop billing Kenyans in a bid to recover the 10.1 Billion contained in their annual report of financial year 2017.

The petitioners argued that Kenya Power misled its customers by making false claims with respect to electrity bills.

They also wanted to the court to declare the monopoly enjoyed by KPLC as unconstitutional as that’s what they are using to mistreat Kenyans.

The petitioners had also sought a permanent injunction barring Kenya from billing or recovering from its customers any backdated electricity bills based on the 10.1 Billion contained in their annual report of the year ending June 30th 2017.
