Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC) Chief Executive Officer Ezra Chiloba has tendered his resignation Kenya Live News can authoritatively reveal.

It is not clear if an internal audit of the 2017 elections could have forced Chiloba out of office or if his resignation was voluntary.

As at the time time of goin to press Chairman Wafula Chebukati was still consukting higher authorities and fellow commissioners before accepting Chiloba’s abrupt resignation.

The embattled Chiloba was forced to take a three-week break and will be away during repeat presidential election in October last year.

Chiloba had been under tremendous pressure from the National Super Alliance to resign, with flagbearer Raila Odinga calling for street protests to force him, as well as other key officials, out of office, accusing them of mismanaging the August 8 election in which President Uhuru Kenyatta was announced the winner.
