ODM Deputy Party Leader and Mombasa County Governor Ali Hassan Joho has been discharged from hospital and recuperating at his Rea Vipingo Ridge residence.
At the same time, Kenya Live News also reliably learn that Joho had yet to receive a formal notice of revocation of his passport but had vowed not to surrender his passport to the authorities.
Several sources close to the Mombasa political supremo, among them Mvita Member of Parliament Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, confirmed to Kenya Live News that Joho was discharged after doctors at the Aga Khan Hospital ruled him fit to return home.
Joho was suddenly admitted to hospital on Tuesday evening after complaining to friends and family that he was feeling unwell. Upon arrival at the Aga Khan Hospital in Mombasa, doctors decided to admit him and place him under observation.
Reacting to media reports that his passport had been revoked by government, Joho vowed that he would not surrender his constitutional right.
Joho who is also a 2022 presidential candidate has reportedly also had his state security withdrawn after attending Raila Odinga’s inauguration at Uhuru Park on January 30th.
There is speculation in the media that the Mombasa Governor is among prominent personalities earmarked for arrest. For that reason, Joho has a legal team standing by to petition court if and when he is arrested even as government remains unrelenting on its crackdown on opposition leaders.
