President Uhuru Kenyatta with his Delegation including Governor Nyong'o in Cuba

The Governor of the Great County of Kisumu Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o who is also a member of the health committee in the council of governors chaired by Marsabit Governor Mohamed Kutti are currently in Cuba to represent the interest of the council of governors in regards to health care.

Cuba is one of the countries with comprehensive healthcare scheme, Prof. Nyong’o was the initiator of NHIF Universal Healthcare project in Kenya, which is a key factor in the delivery of Kenya’s health agenda.

It was on this premise that the council of Governors nominated Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o to his H.E Uhuru Kenyatta for the trip, on their first day in Cuba, the delegation visited Cuba’s leading research and pharmaceutical group, Labiofam, to study how Caribbean nation has innovated in its fight against tropical diseases and promised to work closer with Cuba to replicate its success.

Through Labiofam, Cuba would train health staff undertaking malaria programmes in Kenya so as to utilise, minimise costs and time taken to fully implement the programme.

To reduce the rate of Malaria prevalence in Kisumu such initiatives have to be taken so as to reduce malaria related deaths in Kisumu.

President Uhuru kenyatta is on 3 day Visit to Cuba to foster ties on Health, Sports and Agriculture.

Through a statement on his first day of visit, President Uhuru focused on health with a delegation which included Marsabit Governor Mohamud Mohamed and Kisumu Governor Peter Anyang Nyong’o.

”As Health is a devolved function, governors are a key factor in the delivery of the President’s health agenda”, Uhuru Said.
